It's Time to Sharpen the Saw! Enjoy your Summer! READ READ READ!

Dear Parents,
Thank you for a wonderful year at Rice Creek Elementary. You have all been
so supportive and I appreciate the feedback that you have given us this year. I
believe that we have we have made great gains and improvements this year, and
we could not have done it without your support.
Although we have had many fantastic events and celebrations this year I am especially proud of the following:
·        We raised close to $90,000 dollars this year with our Cookie Dough and Boosterthon fundraisers this year. This is an awesome achievement- we could not have done this without your support.
    ·        We implemented AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) in our 5th grade this school year. Through AVID strategies we have taught our students organizational skills, mote taking skills, and higher order thinking skills. I have seen our students grow and develop academically this year as a result of this new learning. Next year we will implement AVID in 3rd and 4 the grade and our 5th graders will continue to learn more AVID strategies in the 6th grade.
    ·        We implemented the Leader in Me in grades K-5 this school year. Through the Leader in Me we focused on the social, emotional, and academic well-being of the students by teaching them the 7 Habits and helping them understand how they can apply it to their lives. The implementation of the 7 Habits have helped students assume more ownership of their learning while equipping all of us with the life skills we need to be successful in life.
   ·        I have been very impressed with parental support at school events and celebrations. You have helped us ensure that these key events have been relevant, meaningful, and this has helped us grow as a community.
      ·        We are very thankful for the AWESOME job our PTO and SIC have done this school year. The PTO has helped us to raise the funds we need to purchase new playground equipment and to enhance the school environment. They have also supported us with key service learning projects. The SIC has helped us update our uniform policy and strategic plan. Next year we will work together on improving school-home communication.
What has impressed you the most about your experiences at RCE this school year?  Which events have stood out as special for you?  When you have time email me at sbishton@richland2.org  and let me know about them and why they were so special to you.
Once again, thank you for a wonderful year. You have assisted us in making a difference in the lives of the children we teach. Have a safe and restful summer.

Kind regards,
Sean Bishton

Dolphin Celebration

Congratulations!

We wanted to give a big shout out to Jazmine in Ms. Roger's 5th Grade Class.

Jazmine left for Atlanta on June 4. 2014 after school to
begin her new journey.....

Jazmine signed as an actress for Tyler Perry's new movie!

Jazmine's mom wanted us to know that her bio will always state that she attended Rice Creek Elementary….and thanks to the Teachers and Administrators who played a role in her education.

Way to go Jazmine!  We are swimming with Dolphin Pride!
